J.D. Reiman jr. (18..-1957), a tea broker from Amersfoort, belonged to a group that wanted to organize a congress to the lack of awareness to discuss spiritual unity . This plan arose a 'Academy of higher wisdom' to be set up. Frederik van Eeden and L.E.J. Brouwer became involved and the discussions were conducted on Van Eedens kolonie Walden.
