Mennicke Hall

Prof. Dr. CA Mennicke (1887-1959) first appeared at the ISVW in 1931, where he became director after fleeing Germany in 1935. In 1941, he began a long 'prison odyssey', ending in the Sachsenhausen camp. After the war, he returned to the ISVW and was director until 1952, when he was able to resume his professorship in Frankfurt. He left a very personal mark on the School, frequently appeared as an inspiring speaker and managed to bind numerous foreign speakers to the ISVW.

'Man stands in this world as an open riddle and there is no agency that can be identified that could solve that riddle for him.'
